Please note that all positions will be paid minimum wage from a Government grant from Canada Summer Jobs. Students must be returning to school in September full-time.
-Preference is given to post-secondary students. This opportunity is for students aged 15 to 30 years who are enrolled in school for September.
-All students hired must be available to work at least 30 hours a week from May until mid-August (the number of weeks will vary). There will be no holiday breaks except statutory holidays.
-This job requires considerable independent work. You must also have access to your own computer and be able and willing to work with little or limited supervision.
-Students hired must be available to attend meetings in person in Toronto.

Research Assistant and Research Promoter
Student will work with Senior Researcher to promote existing research on Women’s health, family health, palliative care, law, and bioethics.
Student backgrounds such as the following will be considered: biology, psychology, social studies, health or medical studies, law, theology, or related studies, or a demonstrated ability to do research and writing. Investigative skills an asset.
Student will consider existing deVeber research and develop ways to publish and promote it. Methods will include but are not limited to: writing media releases, finding journals and helping to prepare articles for submission; submitting work to various writers or media, finding ways to promote it through our website and network. Any educational background will be considered but student must have a sense of the implications of the research and how it can have impact. Experience with publishing, promoting or communications an asset.
Student and Youth Coordinator
Student will help coordinate, track, and support the various summer student positions working at the Institute this summer. Work will also include liaising with student mentors and deVeber staff regularly. Position requires attention to detail, leadership skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and keeping others on their timeline. Any education background can be considered, but student must show experience managing other people.
Assist in planning an event in the fall of 2015 under the direction of the Executive Director. Help with developing the plan, timeline, securing speakers, marketing, and developing web content and materials for the events. Student backgrounds such as any of the above plus arts, journalism, and communications will be considered.
Assist in identifying, planning and creating programs for youth involvement in deVeber’s work. Using social media and other methods, develop ways of reaching out to youth and young adults. Help create a more solid youth arm of the deVeber Institute. Any background will be considered, but demonstrated experience working with youth, developing social media forums, and/or reaching out to youth communities an asset.
Communications and Development Assistant
Assist in the identifying, planning, developing, and sending or posting of communications. Includes but is not limited to media releases, research updates, and social media postings. Develop links with organizations and agencies which would have an interest in our research. Help update and further develop deVeber website. Help further develop deVeber presence on social media platforms.
Background in communications, journalism or related studies, or experience in related work.
Work with Executive Director and Development Associate to help develop and execute fundraising initiatives, such as identifying prospects, developing mail-outs, email campaigns, newsletters, building database, and other activities. Fundraising, arts, public relations and other studies will be considered, and/or experience in fundraising.
Video, Film Production and Graphics Designer
Develop and create YouTube and other video content promoting findings of deVeber research, using original and existing film footage. Help develop context for videos on deVeber website and other suitable locations, and post as needed. Visual arts, film and video studies, media studies or related studies required, or a demonstrated ability to create videos.
